Things To Do
England is full of quaint villages, modern towns and large cities but Cambridge has a little but of it all rolled into one, making it an ideal destination for your next vacation.
The city of Cambridge, located in the county of Cambridgeshire, has a population of about 108 000 people making it small enough that you don`t have to fight crowds to get around and large enough that there is a lot of things to see and do. The one thing that probably stands out most about Cambridge is the world-class university that is located there but the city is also known for its long, colorful history. People from all over the world come to the city to learn more about that history and to participate in festivals, shop in the local shopping district, mingle with the friendly locals, take in the beautiful landscape and take part in the many activities that are available to both locals and visitors.
If you plan to visit at some point, it is a good idea to do some research and find out what there is to do and what things you would like to see and do while you are there. Here is a list of some of the things that are popular with tourists to get you started:
- Walk around the city or hail a Cambridge taxi to take you around to view the sites including the unique and historical architecture.
- If weather permits, take a bike tour.
- Spend an afternoon golfing.
- Spend an evening at the theater or cinema where you can watch a movie, check out some live, local music or watch a play.
- Spend the day relaxing and exploring the many public green spaces scattered all over the city.
- Visit the many museums and galleries to get a feel of the local culture and the history that made the city what it is today.
- Take a day trip to one of the smaller towns outside of Cambridge or go for a leisurely drive in the countryside.
There are many things to do in Cambridge and the things I mentioned above are only a small sample of those things and how you can spend your time while you are there. While most people consider the bigger centers when they are visiting places, Cambridge is a perfect example of how a smaller center has just as much or more to offer!
